2. Are the expression well crafted (crafting / Lines/ Shapes) ?
Regarding text formatting:
1. Is kerning and tracking appropriately done?
2. Does the font size correspond to the line length , leading & paragraph spacing ?
3. Is the alignment choice conducive to reading ?
4. Ragging controlled well?
5. Cross alignment been established using base-line grids ?

Task 2: Typographic Exploration and communication
Week 5
For the second task , we were asked to combine both the Task 1 exercises together with what we have learnt till now, so the Headline in the editorial spread should should involve type expression , while the body text is a text formatting layout.
Mt Vinod gave us 3 editorial text options. The one I chose is "The Impact of Bauhaus on modern culture"

So my idea here to express the word 'bauhaus' , after I did research about bauhaus , I decided to make it representing bauhaus as much as I can by choosing Triangle and Circle and also the black line it's something like to represent the buildings .

Then Mr Shamsul feedback about my work :
The format for the document is wrong. Please check the size again. And when convert it into PDF, it must be facing pages because two pages must be side by side
So it should be 200mm x 200mm . So I realised that I did a mistake So I
did it one more time with the correct size , and He Chose Layout Design 1 , because design layout 3 he said that The expression is too slanted and it gives a weird expression.

REFLECTIONS
Week 6
Experience
At this week I got many feedbacks from peers and lecturer as well and I gained more knowledge as the questions that sir asked during the class it helped me a lot especially when taking notes
Observation
So I noticed that its really very important to take notes and to focus at the class because at some point you realise that you did wrong work .
Findings
I was so confused during the process but it was so interesting at the same time because I started from the scratch at indesign so it was very challenging for me but I'm proud of myself now .
Week 7
Experience
Since we didn't have class at this week and we only asked to watch Tuesday's class recording for task 3A so we have flexibilty in time to watch anytime and this is the best part because I'm not going to wake up 3 am .
Observation
I observed that this week is very hard because simple I realised that I did very bad mistake that lead me to redo the task from the begging and to start at task 3A at the same time , but I managed it well .
Findings
I found for this task I had more than 1 design , and I found it so hard to decide what design I should go with , and I did all of them and I liked one the most but Mr Shamsul didn't like it so I have to follow his guidance and rules because he of course has better wide perspective than me so I submitted that one and I'm totally satisfied with that.
FURTHER READING

| Figure 23: Computer Typography basics ( David Creamer) |
Actually this book for me is like treasure , it covered most of topics that we learned in this semester so I'm very glad that I found this book .
So in this book main goal of typography is to transfer the information to the reader in effective way.

| Figure 24: Contents that covered in the book |
- Serif
- Sans Serif
- Mono-spaced
- Display
- Script
- Text
- Dingbats
Serifs: are the common body fonts nowadays and also work nicely for headline fonts .
They are considered the easiest to read also hey have the little tails that hang off the end of letter strokes.
![]() |
| Figure 25: Examples of Serif fonts |
Sans Serif: they are without serifs , actually they can give more modern look because they have an overall even stroke width , but actually they considered that they are harder to read

Display fonts: are supposed to be attention grabbing and should not be used as body fonts.

Script fonts: are designed to mimic our handwriting that's why its used for formal invitations , They should never used in all capitals
