Pre-recorded Lectures

AdTypo_0 Turning The Tables

During this lecture tutorial , Mr. Vinod said that everything that we do in this particular semester is predicated upon what is you have done in the last semester and more, also he said we should have improvise and advance from ourselves during the break we have got after first semester to maintain some level of practice in typography and to gain more knowledge.
Everything we will learn in all modules including the last semester even the existing semester have a great effect on what you do & How you do in this module or any other module in this semester.
The knowledge that we receive and practiced are to be used in all modules in all semesters and Typography as well.
" We live in grey world not black and white world "Mr Vinod briefed through the new learning style during this semester , which is totally different from the previous semester .
During our first semester all the necessary information given and introduced to us from our lecturers , But from now we have to rely on the ability to find the information necessary by ourselves and to do more self-learning.
He mentioned that we will be divided into groups to study certain topic and to present it and to receive questions.

AdTypo_1 Typographic Systems

During this tutorial Mr.Vinod talked about different types of typographical systems, Simply they can be used to help in exhibition the text in conveying something.
"All design is based on a structural system    -Elam, 2007" , There are 8 major variations with an infinite number of permutations.
  1. Axial
  2. Radial
  3. Dilatation
  4. Random
  5. Grid
  6. Modular
  7. Transitional
  8. Bilateral
Typographical organisation is complex due to the dependence on communication in order to function.Additional criteria: hierarchy, order of reading. legibility and contrast also come into play.
Shape Grammars  is a set of shape rules that apply in a step-by-step way to generate a set, or language, of designs its both descriptive and generative .

  • Axial - all elements are organised to the left or right or a single axis.
(Fig 1, Axial System Example, 23/8/2021)

(Fig 2, Axial Poster System Example, 23/8/2021)
  • Radial - Elements are extended from a focal point.
(Fig 3, Radial System Example, 23/8/2021)

(Fig 4, Radial Poster System Example, 23/8/2021)

  • Dilatation - All elements expand from a central point in a circular fashion, Hierarchy can be used with different rings
(Fig 5, Dilatation System Example, 23/8/2021)

(Fig 6, Dilatation System poster Example, 23/8/2021)

  • Random - Appear to have no specific pattern or relationship.

(Fig 7, Random System Example, 23/8/2021)

(Fig 8, Random System Poster Example, 23/8/2021)
  • Grid - Vertical and horizontal divisions.
(Fig 9, Grid System Example, 23/8/2021)

(Fig 10, Grid System Poster Example, 23/8/2021)
  • Transitional - Informal system of layered banding where elements can move on a horizontal axis freely and still maintain a good composition
(Fig 11, Transitional System Example, 23/8/2021)

(Fig 12, Transitional System Poster Example, 23/8/2021)
  • Modular - A series of non objective elements that are constructed in as standardised units.
(Fig 13, Modular System Example, 23/8/2021)

(Fig 14, Modular System Poster Example, 23/8/2021)
  • Bilateral - All text are arranged symmetrical on single axis.
(Fig 15, Bilateral System Example, 23/8/2021)

(Fig 16, Bilateral System Poster Example, 23/8/2021)

Layouts can be combination of multiple systems. The designers tend to focus on grid systems, these systems are one of many possibilities.
The understanding of the systems organisation process allow designers to break free from rigid horizontal and vertical grid system . Allows designers to be more fluid and flexible when making typographical messages.

"Typography is the use of type to advocate, communicate, celebrate, educate, elaborate, illuminate, and disseminate.
Along the way , the words and pages become art".  -James Felici

AdTypo_2 Typographic Composition

During this lecture tutorial , Mr. Vinod explained about Typographic Composition its the arrangement of textual information on a given space.
There are different ways to approach Typographic Compositions we think about the dominant principles underpinning design composition which are emphasis , isolation , repetition , symmetry , asymmetry , alignment , perspective and etc ...  .
Principles such as emphasis and symmetry are easily translatable in terms of typography however principles such as perspective and repetition are not, though that doesn't mean they are unusable but they are not easily usable. Most common composition are rule of thirds , grid system and emphasis.

Rule of Thirds is a photography guide to composition. It is 3 columns and 3 rows that intersect, the intersecting lines are used as the points of interest. Realistically, no one would ever use the rule of thirds when there are other more favourable options.

There is also environmental grids, It helps to create a sense of depth through techniques such as foreshortening and also more creation of dynamic looking composition .
On the other hand, it creates a very unique and inspiring mixture of visuals and text.

Form and movement is system done by Mr.Vinod himself as mentioned in the video, This system is based on the exploration of an existing grid system developed to get students to explore the multitude of options the grid offers . It is about the placement of a form on a page over a spread of many pages to create movement.
Because the movement from one page to another matters, We we must reduce the decorativeness and non-objective elements used as too much it causes too much complexity in the form and movement of the designs.

AdTypo_3 Context and Creativity

During this lecture tutorial, Mr. Vinod talked about context which means basically historical context.

Why Handwriting is important in the study of type or typography ? Handwriting is important because the first mechanically produced letterforms were made to imitate handwriting.
The shape and lines were influenced by the materials such as plant stems, feathers or  brushes,  to name a few along with the material it was written on, papyrus, clay,  animal skin, etc.

Then Mr. Vinod talked about the history of writing from all over the world, and how it has developed over the course of history.

Fig 17 Letter form / Handwriting in its earliest avatars, 24/8/2021

Cuneiform, the earliest form of actual writing it evolved from pictograms, written left to right C.3000BCE.

Fig 18 Cuneiform, The earliest form 24/8/2021

Hieroglyphics between 2613 to 2160 BCE, Can be used in Three different ways.
  • As ideograms, represent what they depict
  • Determinatives, to show the signs are meant to indicate the general idea of the word.
  • Phonograms, to represent sounds and "spell out" words.
Fig 19 Hieroglyphics Chart 25/8/2021

Early Greek / 5th C. B.C.E.
  • It's built on Egyptian logo consonantal systems
  • Phonetic alphabet consisting of 22 letters
  • The system was adopted by the Greeks who added the necessary vowels
  • Only capital letters
  • Written between two guidelines, organised into horizontal rows.
  • Reading in "boustrophedon" one row would be left to right then switch from right to left
  • Early greek letters were freehanded, no serifs.
Fig 20 Early Greek 25/8/2021

Roman Uncials
  • By the 4th Roman letters were more rounded, curved form allowed for less strokes and could be written faster
 English Half Uncials, 8th C.
  • It becomes more slanted & condensed
  • This style later became the pattern for the humanistic writing of the 15th Century
  • Its resulted in the basis of the present day lowercase roman type
The fall of the Roman Empire resulted in general illiteracy and handwritings broke down into diverse regional styles.
Then A court school established during the Charlemagne's patronage which leads to increasing in the book productions also the languages were standardised .
spelling , pronunciation , spaces between words , inserting capitals at the very beginning of the sentence and punctuation.
  • Black letter : this writing form was influenced by gothic aesthetic and characterised by tight spacing and condense lettering. Condensing the line space and letter spacing reduced the costs for book production.
  • Movable Type : During this development printing on woodblock was practiced in China, Korean and Japan. Koreans established a foundry to cast moveable type in bronze, allowing for dismantling and resetting of text, along with the creation of their new script Hangul also china attempted so use movable type but failed, as there were too many characters the material used was too brittle . This was all done several decades before the earliest printing in Europe.
Mr Vinod also talked about colonization of the West  that halted the evolution of the Eastern writings as they adopted the Western technologies then moving forward he showed developments of Eastern handwritings the Indian , Chinese , Brahmi and arabic.
In the 19th century, with the rise of the modern British Empire. It became out of style to credit Africans with anything of value. Greece and Rome were elevated over much older and impactful civilisations especially Ancient Egypt, but also including Mesopotamia, Indus Valley, China, and more
The main reason behind knowing all of these knowledge to provide opportunities for better understanding about our collective heritage.
Typographers would pay homage to these developments, resulting in books and recreation of the handwritten styles into mechanical forms for printing.

AdTypo_4 Designing Type

Why design typeface?
First of all it's Social responsibility that legibility must be improved which is why there is an important need for designing typeface. Second thing its Type design is a form of artistic expression, just like any other artist.
Adrian Frutiger was Swiss graphic designer in the 20th century , He designed typefaces and is responsible for the advancement of typography into digital typography.
His typeface Frutiger is a sans serif created to be a legible and distinctive typeface that is easy to see from close up and functional. This typeface was designed with the considerations that it needed to be recognised even under poor lighting conditions or the reader is moving quickly past the signs.
Also he designed a new Devanagari font for modern typesetting and printing processes. He branched out to other languages such as Arabic language .

Matthew Carter, He was a contemporary British type designer and craftsman, "Royal Designer for Industry"
Many of his typefaces were created to address technical challenges. Verdana being an example, the font was supposed to be extremely legible even at a very small size due to early computers.
Some of his creations: Georgia, Verdana, Bell Centennial.
Verdana main purpose was designed through pixels rather than a pen. He also designed a typeface known as Bell Centennial, which had ink traps. Solving the issue of letters becoming blurry due to printing and ink running. As the gaps in the typeface would be filled up by extra ink while causing no change in legibility.

Moving forward to Edward Johnston created a font now known as "Johnston Sans", for the London Underground.
It required bold simplicity, modernity infused with tradition. He applied the characteristics of Roman capitals but had an elegance that was fitting towards the modern age.
Gill Sans was a typeface heavily based on Underground which was created by Edward Johnson's student, Eric Gill.

Process of Type Design :
  1. Research - Understand and study history, anatomy, and conventions. Understand how it is going to be used, understand the present fonts for references and ideas.
  2. Sketching - May use some traditional methods, while others use digital tools. Both have their positives and negatives.
  3. Digitisation - There is professional software such as FontLab and Glyphs. While others use Adobe Illustrator and introduce it into other font apps. Attention to detail is crucial here, form, and counter form matter heavily.
  4. Testing - Big Part of the process of designing and correcting aspects of it. Readability and legibility become an important consideration. It is not as crucial if it is a display typeface.
  5. Deployment - Even after deployment, problems may appears. The testing is important to reduce the issues after deployment.
Typeface Construction:

Roman Capitals : The main purpose of using grids it aids in the creation of letterforms its a method to build create letterforms. They Constructed on a gridded square basically , They are grids that is used when creating typefaces which consists of squares and within it is circle that touches the lines of the square in four places.
Fig 20 Type Construction Grids, 25/8/2021

Fig 21 Type Construction Grids, 25/8/2021

Constructions and considerations, visual correction is an example of this. It is the extrusion of curved and protruding forms past the baseline and cap line. This also applies to vertical alignment. Also known as overshoots. Visual correction is also needed for the distance between letters. Known as fitting the type.
Most typefaces come due to a need or demand. However, they could also be intrinsic or extrinsic. Intrinsic being the designer's need and interest to design a typeface or identification of a problem and desire to solve it

AdTypo_5 Perception & Organisation

Perception : Basically its a way which is something is understood or perceived or manipulated into seeing.
In typography, it deals with the visual navigation of the reader via form, contrast and organisation of the content, it can be textual visual, graphic, or color.

Contrast in Typography : There are different methods to maintain and achieve contrast in typography in this lecture to versions would be looked at: Rudi Ruegg's and Carl Dair's.

In Ruegg's version
Contrast is significant in terms of creating distinction and differentiation between information.  achieving contrast involves the usage of  Bold or light  condensed or extended, organic or machined, roman or italic, small or large. Negative or positive, serif or sans serif, ornate or simple, and red or blue colours.

In Carl Dair's version of the different types of contrast which are size, weight, contrast of form, contrast of structure, contrast of texture, contrast of colour  contrast of direction.
  1. Size: provides a starting point for the reader's attention, commonly used in making a headings or titles its usually bigger than the body text.
  2. Weight: it's a heavy area for a powerful point of visual attraction or emphasis which allows a textual information to stand out within the same typeface style.
  3. Form: is the creation of distinction with the use of capital letters and lowercases, roman and italic, condensed and extended.
  4. Structure: is creating contrast with the use of different letterforms of different kinds of typefaces.
  5. Texture: simply refers to the way the lines of type look as a whole, both near and from a distant.    is accomplished through the amalgamation of using contrasts of  weight ,size, form and structure on a page.
  6. Direction: is providing contrast through the use of horizontal, vertical, or angles with textual information, mixing the wide blocks of long lines and tall columns of short line can also create a contrast.
  7. Colour: it is important that each element that is needed to be emphasised that its tonal values of the colours used be taken into considerations. a second colour is often less emphasise in values than plain black on white, so When colors are used wrongly it creates a confusion instead of organisation.
Form In Typography

Its the overall look and feel of the elements that make up the typographic composition, providing visual impact and first impression, a good form tends to be intriguing, navigating the eyes, entertains the mind, and memorable. The interplay of all these elements creates meaning and form provides balanced harmony.

Organization in Typography

Gestalt Psychology is the attempt to understand the principles behind the ability to acquire and maintain meaningful perceptions.
Gestalt coming from German word meaning "placed" or "put together",  In this theory, it emphasises the whole of anything is greater than its parts, that people experience things as a unified whole, looking at the whole experience. Therefore, design the elements that make up the whole design is only as good as its overall visual form.

LECTURES

Lecture Notes

Week 1 - Introduction and Briefing  (23/8/2021)

As usual today we met our two lecturers Mr.Vinod and Mr. Asrizal.
Mr. Vinod briefed us about the modules information, modules outcomes, He also explained about the coming tasks for this module.
We were given a brief run through of our module , and he explained every part in the Facebook page like Announcement section, Files and Popular topics discussed he made us familiar with the facebook page and how to get any kind of information through it.
He went through the Excel Sheet and asked us to add our names (google feedback sheet)
We were then told to watch the prerecorded lectures playlist and to complete them maximum by 5th week.
During the class Mr Vinod briefed about Task1 Typographic system. (First Part)
He gave us some time to watch the pre recorded lecture about Typographic system only the first 5 minutes of the video.
Later on we tried during the class after we watched the video to work on the Axial system to make sure that everyone understood the task well, We started first by watching the Indesign formatting to refresh ourselves with the things we taught in the previous semester.
Then Mr Vinod made a quick refreshment to us during our class for some rules like,
  • Size of the document must be 200mm x 200mm
  • Then we will start by sketching
  • Structure determine
  • determine typeface
  • Arrangement and Hierarchy
  • Determine piece of information for example this info should be bold or italic etc ..
  • Determine Pt. size (8pt-12pt)
  • Line length
  • Leading (3 its larger pt size )
  • Paragraph spacing (must follow leading)
  • Title only to be 12 Pt
  • Paragraph spacing automatically in mm so we have to change it to points
  • In text the most important info ( TITLE )
  • Determine information Hierarchy
So after that we tried to work on the Axial system which is already first composition of the task 1 exercise .
So I started by looking for some inspirations to make sure that I gain the enough knowledge to proceed with this task.
So I followed Mr. Vinod's Video of ( Indesign Formatting ) step by step so I did the same design that he did.

Task 1 : Exercises - Type & Play

Part 1 Fining Type

Week 3 (6/9/2021)

For this week exercise we were asked to find a picture from our choice between man made objects or structures or even nature , Then we will have to analyse and identify potential letter forms within the dissected image. The forms would be explored and ultimately digitised through  a process of iteration the forms would go from crude representation to a more refined celebration that would reflect to a degree its origins. It important that during these process that the elements and characteristic of its initial raw letterforms are present in its final refined letterforms.
So for this exercise I started by looking at nature textures like animals skin textures.

So finally I chose picture of Zebra Skin texture , I found the characteristics of the zebra's skin will be very interesting to develop letterforms , Firstly when I looked at zebra's skin I saw letters outlines so I started to extract letters from it.

I began looking at Zebra textures and eventually I managed to identify potential letterforms from them, I started to look at many pictures of Cute Zebra's texture on the internet .

I started to take some inspirations to decide the picture .

Process of refining the letters ( Z, Y, I, V ) :

First step I started by setting Font base

Secondly I started to use font anatomy base was inspired from Typeface Helvetica
Figure 51 Setting Helvetica as font base for my letters 10/9/2021

Third step I started to take reference line anatomy

I tried as much as possible to make the reference 'Helvetica' font somehow relevant to the font was extracted before by aligning the font to original font.

Process of refining letters

As we can see the font have many variations from the reference font, the width and the letterform as well , so I decided to do some modifications to make it more appealable and readable

Exercise 3 - Part 2 Type & Play

Week 4 (13/9/2021)

In the second part of "Type & Play",  we were asked to choose image and word/sentence of our choice and to interplay the text with the image but, the word/sentence chosen must match and interplay in good way with the image chosen.
In other way the selected image and the word/sentence should show interconnection relation ship.

So I started to search on the internet for good quality image and to take some inspirations as well.

Those are the images that I came up with to apply the Text on it , I tried more than one picture to see which one will be the best at the end.

Figure 64 Images chosen for the exercise 16/9/2021

I did more than one trial.

Luxor Trial but it wasn't good enough .
So I kept practicing

I did Another one ( RELAX)

Figure 72 progress of trial 5 16/9/2021

Figure 73 Final outcome of trial 5 16/9/2021

I Got feedback from Mr Vinod , This is cool but I have to study the shadow should reflect on the water element as it very smooth need to be more wavy as its on the water surface and make it more blurred .

Still I believe I can do better work , So I made another last two pictures .

Figure 74 progress of trial 6 16/9/2021

Figure 75 final outcome of trial 6 16/9/2021

I got feedback from Mr Vinod Regarding this work , That this is better than the rest and my work got improved but need to make all the words Great,New,York,City the same size in points.

And Finally the last Artwork I did and the best one so far So I decided to submit it .
Before Adding Text:

Figure 76 Chosen image of the last trial 17/9/2021

After adding text first time without strokes or shadows

Figure 77 adding text last trial 17/9/2021

So I decided to add more effort by adding two layers for each word shadows and strokes to the font.
I got Feedback From Mr Vinod that for this exercise I have to use from the 10 fonts ,
I Used UNIVERSE LT STD BLACK

FEEDBACK

Week 1 // Typographical Systems (23/8/2021)

Mr Vinod gave me feedback about my work , He started by the Axial system First artwork: please note the text in reverse black isn’t aligned to the axis. Thus it doesn’t conform to Axial. Layout is fine.
He advised my for radial system to Move Lecture 12 to bottom right. For Dilatation he said that it's Too heavy doesn’t work.
The feedback I got for random is its isn't ‘random’ enough. It must look chaotic but within that chaos there must be order.
And for the grid system , The red patches (non-Objectives element) is distracting and over powering the message.
Modular system he told me ModularFrom a design stand point I have no comment. Whether it conforms to the modular system, I have explained it with the feedback I provided to the other students and the video tutorial.
Transitional system , It isn’t very imaginative in application. There is some level of transition but isn’t very appealing. More exploration needed.
And finally for bilateral its okay.

Week 2 // Typographical Systems (30/8/2021)

I got feedback from Mr Vinod during my second week.
Axial system; please note the text in reverse black isn’t aligned to the axis. Thus it doesn’t conform to Axial. Layout is fine.
Radial system ; he asked me to move lecture 12 to the bottom right
Dilatational system ; too heavy doesn't work
Random system; this isnt ‘random’ enough. It must look chaotic but within that chaos there must be order.
Grid system; The red patches (non-Objectives element) is distracting and over powering the message.
Modular system; From a design stand point I have no comment. Whether it conforms to the modular system, I have explained it with the feedback I provided to the other students and the video tutorial.
Transitional system; It isn’t very imaginative in application. There is some level of transition but isn’t very appealing. More exploration needed.
Bilateral system; OK

Week 3 // Typographical Systems (6/9/2021)

General feedback: Just to update excel sheet feedbacks.
Specific feedback; Axial system is is okay but need to minimise the space top left need more balancing
Radial; excellent work
Grid ; not well balanced but he saw the structure already can be improved
Modular; its okay
Transitional ; doesn't flow , creates stuck contrast , doesn't work not so good
Bilateral ; ok worked no problem best one

Week 4 // Finding Type (13/9/2021)

General feedback : Everyone please don't forget to update your feedback in the Google Sheet.
Specific feedback : during this week Mr Vinod give me feedback about my work , he asked me to do more trials as he mentioned cause I only did 2 transitions which is not enough .
Do more phases in refining as 2 steps not enough so more work needed.

Week 5 // Type & Play  (20/9/2021)

I got specific feedbacks during this week .
Luxor trial one ;  need more working not good enough . Text not interplaying with the image

New York much better; choose from 10 typefaces , make the same point size for all text to loo more relatable

Boxing one; not good enough

Relax ; cool need to study the shadows more very smooth , should add more waviness cause its too sharp

Just do it ; the best one

Theres interplay between text and photo , I decided to submit it

REFLECTIONS

Week 1 // Typographical Systems (23/8/2021)

Experience

We are back to typography , But now its more advanced than before . I learned a lot to be honest about typographical systems, I  have never ever heard about those systems before ! , According to this exercise our first exercise it was definitely not easy its very challenging on the other hand you need to search a lot to understand and to do the exercise correct.
I did the 8 systems I thought I was correct before getting the feedback , but after Mr Vinod gave me the feedback I started to improve the 8 designs again. It was very hectic and challenging

Observation

I observed now that the situation is way different than the previous semester, Now Im familiar with most of the things than before I didn't feel lost as previous semester when we started typography .
The situation is better now.
I observed a new thing after studying the typographic system, It really doesn't matter how the design looks cool or it doesn't matter how it looks like , the most important thing is how you deliver the info to the reader so the reader can understand the information this is what really matters .

Findings

After studying the typographic systems , By knowing the 8 different systems helped me to have better skill for placing information on page and how to organise the information like which info I need to deliver the reader first and how to organise it on the page.
Kerning, paragraph spacing , pt size and colours really plays very important role in designing .

Week 2 // Typographical Systems (30/8/2021)

Experience

I had a sense of familiarity now during the second week and didn't feel much that Im lost as I did when beginning Typography in my previous semester. After the feedbacks its just some edits need to be done so its easier than building a whole thing from the begginning

Observation

I observed when I looked deeper into the typographic systems studies that no matter how beautiful or confusing the typographical system is only the way you organise and layer the information so the reader can understand is what is the most important then the least important and also what matters the most.

Findings

After going further and deeper I realised that Radial system is not commonly used to deliver the info as a reader it will be too difficult to read the info using this layout

Week 3 // Typographical Systems (6/9/2021)

Experience

This week is a bit stressing , cause I realised that I still need to more more on the systems , Im not good at designing typefaces so the systems seems very complicated to me to understand , but I tried to read many articles and to watch many tutorials explaining , in English and Arabic even in Hindu
Cause I still didn't get the point of doing some systems so I tried to find an answer for my question what I don't still understand xD

Observation

I observed that choosing typeface or choosing the system it really needs a lot of studied cause its not that easy by any mean nothing by luck everything need to be studied very well ! , even the choice of the colour

Findings

I found that feedback is really important , cause before the feedback I see the design by my mindset and after the feedback I see the design in other different way so I look to myself and say how you did that ? horrible ahahaha
Not all the time you have to follow the feedback blindly you have to understand why ? TO LEARN, you must know why ..

Week 4
// Finding Type (13/9/2021)

Experience

Yeaayyyy , finally it was so interesting to me ! To be honest this is the most easy and interesting exercise .I really enjoyed the process of searching about the letters in nature ! I enjoyed myself while doing this.

Observation

I observed that 75% of the fonts are similar to each other its only about the thickness and weight of the letters and the spacings (according to my observation xD )

Findings

I found myself that during this exercise I were observing every and each thing around me trying to find letters , The floor , the walls , the cracks and so on .. , for me I really enjoyed doing this.

Week 5 // Type & Play  (20/9/2021)

Experience

OMG , It's not that easy exercise for me , On the other hand I really enjoyed this work
That's why I keep squeezing my mind and my self to come up with better idea.
When I'm done with 3 trials I really felt i'm not doing my best , so I decided to do more and to improve the work again and again !

Observation

One thing I observed that it took me around 16 hrs , I didn't really feel that im bored !
I kept working on myself till it ended up with something I totally satisfied with it.

Findings

I found that when I listen to each and every feedback that Mr Vinod gives to my friends is really important so when it comes to work I tried to avoid things he mentioned.
Another finding that the recorded lectures is real treasure I can listen to the feedback twice and trice .

FURTHER READING

Figure 82 , Typographic Systems book

To sum up I read ; I read about how designers design layouts using the typographic systems which are structures or guides help designers to realise what they want to create easily and in a professional way, it also describe how important the eight typographic systems are ,it talks about Grids, Axis, Columns

Also it talks about the eight different systems which they are listed on the cover radial , bilateral , axial , modular and Grid systems and more, With a detailed explanation of the features and advantages of using them, Besides this , it show you the different steps that designers would experience While using this eight typographic systems, from the first to the last step.

Typographic organisation has always been a complex system in that there are so many rules and elements taking the place like legibility and hierarchy and  so on.
The best thing in this book is it takes the reader through some students work through exercises as what we did already in the first exercise on the other hand he uses a very professional examples which is really helps he basically offers some solutions about the designs .

Figure 83,  Creative Typography Design Ideas Article

This article talked about many different types of typography design ideas that will really inspires you, it started by showing us how bright colours are important in typography design which we already studied this through Semester 1 and 2 , and What is the meaning of each colour and how they are attractive and grabs the attention, and then it talked about the semi-transparency and its effect on the graphic design world then , line art , outline typography , heavy fonts and a lot of creative and awesome types of typography, This article really attracted me cause I'm big fan of the work that done by hands like crafting and so on .

I was really impressed by the hand drawn typography design type, it makes the whole artwork looks so different, this article inspires me honestly and give you a tips in how to make the typography looks different and awesome .

Figure 84, The Visual History of Type

The Visual History of Type. this book was released in 2017 by the well known deisgner Paul McNeil where it revolves around typefaces . it is a monumental piece that shows the evolution of writing from Gutenberg's time to the present day. After reading it you will be exposed to the typography history and introduce you to a new perspective to graphic design.
This books includes detailed survey of the major typefaces produced since the advent of printing.
“Paul McNeil’s book is an exhaustive, lavishly illustrated portrait showing the evolvement of typeface design .

Figure 85, The Visual History of Type

I Really liked this part in the book , " Does world need any more typefaces? If it doesn’t need any more typefaces, then it doesn’t need more of anything else: we should all dress alike, eat the same food, watch the same show, listen to the same music and read the same magazine.
Wow ! This is the best answer so far !
'This reads like an early Talking Heads song' Cause sometime I asked myself this question and finally I found the correct & appropriate answer.
Perhaps this book simply Increasingly aware lack of knowledge of the history of type.
"Type is a microcosmic representation of culture."
